Bronx Insider: Sports Desk: Manhattan Men's Basketball Adds Three for 2022-23 Campaign.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jaspers Add Three for 2022-23.

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Head coach Steve Masiello and the Manhattan men’s basketball program have announced the addition of three student-athletes for the 2022-23 season.

Raziel Hayun, Omar Silverio, and Adam Walden are the newest members of the Jaspers.

Hayun arrives in Riverdale from Israel, where he played for Maccabi Haifa and the Israel U19 team. The 6-4 guard also played in the 2018 Jordan Brand Classic. Hayun hit 47-percent of his 3-pointers last season for Maccabi.

Masiello on Hayun, “He is a high-level, elite shooter with pro experience. He is going to come in as a 21-year-old freshman. He has a high basketball IQ and is extremely disciplined. His love of the game is one that I respect and admire. We expect him to be an immediate contributor and fill a need with his shooting. We are incredibly excited about him and can’t wait to get him on campus to get to work right away.”

Silverio comes to Riverdale after making stops at URI and Hofstra. Last season at Hofstra, Silverio averaged 10.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game while starting 11 times for the Pride. The guard had a season-high 40 points at Elon on Feb. 15, 2022. Silverio was second on the Pride in 3-point percentage (35.8) last season.

Masiello on Omar, “He is a player with tremendous experience and maturity. He is a gifted scorer who can get going and have some monster nights. He is a threat as soon as he steps on the court with his range and can impact the game in multiple ways with his basketball IQ, and we are excited about what he can contribute to our program.”

Walden hails from Baltimore, Md. but played his final high school basketball season at Our Savior Lutheran in the Bronx. The 6-10 forward averaged 10.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game.

Masiello on Walden, “He is a high school player that is just scratching the surface of how good he can be once he gets himself into great shape. He is hungry, driven, and a hard worker. His work ethic at his size, hands, and strength can lead to a great future for him. We are incredibly excited about his addition, and he adds to our depth up front with all-league forwards in Josh [Roberts] and Warren [Williams].”
