Bronx Insider: Sports Desk: Manhattan's RaShawn Stores Collects First Win; Jaspers Cruise Past Dolphins.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Stores Collects First Win; Jaspers Cruise Past Dolphins.

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Interim head coach RaShawn Stores picked up his win in charge of Manhattan on Friday night with an 86-39 win over Mount St. Vincent.

“It was a great team effort tonight. They played extremely all. That is the only thing that matters to me,” said Stores. “Getting the win feels great. I bleed green; we bleed green. With the alumni supporting us, that is what it is all about, making Draddy feel like home.”

Manhattan (1-2) led from the start and did not let Mount St. Vincent (1-2) get anything going. The Jaspers scored 56 points in the opening half, with 27 coming off 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes. Manhattan shot a scintillating 59-percent from the field in the opening stanza.

Ant Nelson scored nine of his game-high 18 points in the opening 20 minutes. Elijah Buchanan poured in 12 of his 14 in the first half too. Nick Brennen and Logan Padgett combined to hit four of the nine first-half 3-pointers.

The Jaspers slowed the pace down in the second half. Manhattan still hit over 40-percent from the field, though on 11-27 shooting. Josh Roberts scored six of his 14 after halftime.

Every Jasper who dressed tonight got into the game. Adam Walden added six points. Aryan Arora hit his first career field goal in the second half—a 3-pointer.

Dan Porcic had nine points to lead the Dolphins.

Manhattan’s next game is against Northeastern in London as part of the London Basketball Classic on Thursday.
